You are right, there is just one difference, in robot name 🙂 Unification is very important for robot manufacturers. It allows minimizing the costs of production and storage of spare parts. Fewer types of parts (arms, gearboxes, motors) mean less storage space is needed. It also simplifies the training of maintenance personnel.

So don’t be surprised that you are paying a higher price for a higher payload robot that is built with the same parts as the “smaller” model. The only difference between them is software (different values of acceleration), but very few people know about it.

If I am not wrong, the same situation applies to car engines. The parts are the same, but the power is different thanks to the modified fuel map of the engine.
